Two Florida men are (pre-tax) millionaires after winning big off the same scratch-off. The winners both won in December and claimed their prizes four days apart.
On Dec. 19, Andrew Smith, a 55-year-old resident of Lady Lake, received a life-changing prize of $1 million from the $1,000,000 A Year for Life Spectacular scratch-off game. The lucky winner claimed his prize at the Gainesville District Office of the Lottery.
He won the lottery at Winn-Dixie on 820 Old Camp Road in The Villages. The store gets a $2,000 bonus for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket. Smith decided to receive his prize of $640,000 as a single lump-sum payment.
Over 400 miles away, Qiriako Kaci, 57, of Key West, won $1 million after buying a $1,000,000 A Year for Life Spectacular ticket at New Mart, 900 Caroline Street, Key West.
He collected his prize of $640,000.00 in a lump-sum payment at the Miami District Office of the Lottery. The retailer who sold the Scratch-Off ticket that won the prize will receive a bonus commission of $2,000.
What is $1,000,000 A Year for Life Spectacular?
The $1,000,000 A Year for Life Spectacular scratch-off game launched in Florida in February. It features two top prizes of $1 million a year for life, and 234 prizes of $1 million.
Smith and Kaci did not win the top prize of $1 million a year for the rest of their lives. Instead, they won the second prize of $1 million.
What are the odds of winning $1,000,000 A Year for Life Spectacular?
This game offers over $1.6 billion in cash prizes, with the odds of winning at 1 in 4.50. The chance of winning the top prize is 1 in 21,727,995, and the second prize is 1 in 185,709. There are currently 141 second prizes left and one top prize left.
